Huons announced on the 30th that it has signed an exclusive domestic distribution agreement with Rappeler Co for the Dr. Rappeler R1 Analyzer and its three dedicated diagnostic strips.
The Dr. Rappeler R1 Analyzer is approved by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a Class I IVD medical device. The device can measure either G6PD activity levels or blood Vitamin C concentrations by simply switching the dedicated strips. The device offers high clinical utility, as it delivers accurate results in 4 minutes and is useful for point of care testing.
These two tests are utilized before and after high dose vitamin C injections to ensure the safety and clinical efficacy of high dose Vitamin C protocols.
While high dose vitamin C therapy, aiming for a blood concentration of 400mg/dL, is gaining prominence in cancer treatment a G6PD screening is mandatory prior to administration to prevent adverse reactions.
G6PD is an enzyme that plays a key role in protecting red blood cells against harmful substances. A deficiency in this enzyme can lead to severe adverse reactions such as hemolytic anemia when exposed to high-dose Vitamin C.
Additionally the device‘s ability to measure Vitamin C levels when administered before and after Vitamin C injection in blood allows clinicians to monitor treatment progress in a quantitative manner ensuring that the administered dosage reaches the effective therapeutic window.
Huons aims to integrate the Dr. Rappeler R1 Analyzer into its existing network of hospitals and clinics that prescribes ’Merit C Injection‘ the company’s flagship high dose Vitamin C injection.
As a comprehensive healthcare provider, Huons maintains a robust portfolio across ethical (ETC) drugs over the counter (OTC) drugs and medical devices. Through this partnership the company continues to lead the Vitamin C treatment market especially through the ‘Merit C’ high dose Vitamin C injection.
A company official said “The Dr. Rappeler R1 Analyzer is designed to maximize the therapeutic efficacy of Vitamin C injections while minimizing potential side effects. We aim to contribute to the advancement of personalized precision medicine by integrating the analyzer with our high dose Vitamin C injection ‘Merit C’.”
Founded in 2018, Rappeler is dedicated to developing vitamin-based therapeutics and diagnostic devices. The company is currently focused on providing total point of care (POC) solutions to ensure safe and effective Vitamin C treatments.
Huons Global and Rappeler entered into a strategic business partnership agreement to strengthen cooperation within the Vitamin C market in 2021.
